my partner and I are cycling through Bulgaria in about a week’s time on our journey from Jordan to the Netherlands. Do you have any advice or contacts that you can share with us? Especially the locations places to camp / stay would be great to have.

Hey guys, we are not much into camping but I will try to help as much as I can. I just found this site: http://www.camping.bg/. I would not advise you to camp just anywhere because the country is not that safe after all. Quite a lot people speak English in the bigger cities and if you ask people from the local administration, they can either guide you to the nearest camping sight or let you camp/stay somewhere safe. Use the phrase “opanem palatka” which means to spread a tent and “prespim niakade” which means to sleep somewhere, if they don’t speak English.

Thanks for the responses. We prefer to camp as much as is possible as long as it is safe – camping in people’s gardens is always an option…
It would be great to meet up with cyclists from Bulgaria & Romania too of course. I really like the idea of the round-Bulgaria tour, just a pity we are too late to take part.
